Parent Involvement

NADC Head Start/ABC encourages parent involvement. It is the volunteers that have made Head Start/ABC a successful program. Parents are the first and most important teacher of their child and we work with parents to develop a Family Partnership Agreement to set and accomplish family and child goals.

Parents are involved in all components of Head Start including:

Parents attend monthly parent meetings, policy council meetings and serve on the Board of Directors Committee. Parents are provided opportunities for involvement in decision making in recruitment, education, nutrition, health and disability services, center activities, budgeting, and applying for grants.

Parents are provided training on: Fatherhood, Healthy Marriage, Divorced Parenting, Positive Behavior Guidance, Literacy, Health and Safety, Nutrition and other educational topics.

Parent/teacher home visits and conferences: parents are included in child development, health and disability services and curriculum activities.

Parents have priority for employment opportunities with NADC. Approximately 75% of our staff is parents of past or currently enrolled children.
